Injury & Liability

At The Dog Shack Grooming Boutique, your dog’s safety and wellbeing are always our top priority. Every effort is made to ensure grooming is a positive, stress-free experience. While we take the utmost care during every appointment, it is important for pet owners to understand that grooming involves working with live animals, sharp tools, and products, and on rare occasions, minor injuries or health concerns can occur.

 

 

Possible Risks

 

 

• Small nicks, scratches, clipper/brush irritation, or skin reactions.

• Eye irritation (e.g., stray hairs, shampoo, scratching).

• Stress-related issues such as anxiety or fatigue.

• Discovery of pre-existing conditions (e.g., ear infections, skin irritations, fleas, lumps) which may only become visible once the coat is trimmed.

 

 

 

Our Responsibility

 

 

• If an injury occurs in our care, we will always inform you immediately.

• If urgent veterinary attention is required, we will seek treatment for your dog as quickly as possible.

• If an issue is directly caused by grooming (e.g., clipper nick, scissor nick, stray hair in eye), The Dog Shack Grooming Boutique may cover the cost of the initial veterinary consultation and treatment directly related to the grooming incident.

 

 

 

Owner Responsibility

 

 

• Once your dog has left the salon, The Dog Shack Grooming Boutique cannot be held liable for self-inflicted injuries (such as scratching, pawing, or rubbing) or conditions that develop after the groom.

• Owners are responsible for informing us of any pre-existing conditions, sensitivities, or behavioral issues prior to the appointment.

• Any veterinary care not directly related to a grooming incident remains the responsibility of the owner.

 

 

 

Goodwill Gesture

 

 

We aim to work with owners in good faith and may, at our discretion, contribute to vet costs if a grooming-related issue is suspected. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
